Essential oils have been used for thousands of years, for everything from health and beauty treatments, to burial rites.  Essential oils are even mentioned in the bible over 600 times!  Well, as the saying goes, "Everything that is old is new again."   Amazingly, in 2018, the essential oil market exceeded 7.51 billion US dollars.  Even more incredible, it is estimated to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 9.0% between 2020 and 2026!  As you can imagine, this has led to many companies jumping into the business to taken advantage of their popularity and profit.

Now, NOT every essential oil company is equal and neither are the oils they make.  But, there is a reason doTERRA remains the #1 sales leader in the oil industry.  Here's why:  DoTerra uses the most advanced methods for the sourcing, harvesting, distillation and quality testing of their oils to assure that they are what is known as Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade (CPTG) oils.  In contrast, some less reputable & irresponsible oil producers allow contamination and adulteration to happen during the distillation process, in order to increase their profit margin.  Contamination can happen unintentionally, of course.  It might occur if machinery is not properly cleaned, or due to a lack of resources or proper equipment.  Sometimes, heavy metals and pesticides aren't caught during testing and subsequently removed by other companies, during the distillation process or supply chain.  This makes for a less effective and even potentially harmful oils, that unsuspecting consumers use on, or in their bodies!

Unlike contamination, adulteration is intentional and often difficult to detect without sophisticated testing methods.  Oil producers sometimes add other substances, both natural and synthetic, to increase the company’s profits by lowering their production cost and increasing their supply.  In short, pure essential oils can be costly to produce, and unscrupulous suppliers might try to lower their costs by adding other substances to their product, again also known as, adulteration.  Word to the wise, if an oil is dirt cheap, that warning bell in your head should probably start sounding off.  Though not very common, some sellers have even been known to fill used doTERRA bottles with imposter oils and apply new caps (which are readily available for purchase online), so that unsuspecting consumers think they are getting the real thing.  The bottomline is, you just don't know what you are getting, if you don't buy through DoTERRA.

This is why I purchase my oils for wholesale prices, from DoTERRA's website only.  The assurance of CPTG oils gives me the confidence that the oils I use will be both efficacious and safe!  I want to know that every time I open a bottle, it is exactly what it says on the label, nothing more, nothing less.  Because of DoTerra's CPTG quality, I know I can use these oils over and over again, and be assured that my results will be the same or better, every time, and that none of the oils will harm me, or my family.  In a word, with so much uncertainty in the world, my doTERRA oils are something I can count on!  And that, my friends, is a very good thing!
